Hello! I’m Steven Harmon, an accomplished information security specialist with a strong focus on space cybersecurity, offensive security operations, and digital forensics. Currently, I serve as a Student Trainee at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, where I contribute to projects that bolster the cybersecurity resilience of advanced naval systems.

    Professional Background

With hands-on experience in both civilian and federal roles, I have cultivated a robust skill set that spans vulnerability assessment, risk analysis, and cybersecurity operations. My journey in technology began with roles such as Technology Systems Administrator at East Lansing Trinity Church, where I managed campus security technologies and network systems. Today, I leverage these experiences to collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams, focusing on enhancing the security and functionality of various naval systems.

In addition, I currently own and manage Symbionetwork LLC, a web hosting company in Texas which offers managed and unmanaged secure server and web hosting solutions, as well as domain names, VPN services, and consultations. You can learn more by visiting https://symbionetwork.com/.

    Academic Excellence

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Information Security and Intelligence with a concentration in Digital Forensics and Penetration Testing from Ferris State University, where I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.95 GPA. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information Security and Intelligence at the same institution, with an emphasis on Incident Response, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), and Business Intelligence, maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA.

My academic journey is complemented by rigorous coursework, including Advanced Digital Forensics, Penetration Testing, and Space Cybersecurity, preparing me to tackle challenges in both terrestrial and space-bound cybersecurity contexts.

    Research & Passion Projects

My passion for cybersecurity extends to research exploring the role of AI in cybersecurity education and space operations. This project reflects my dedication to merging technology, research, and practical application to advance cybersecurity practices and training.

    Volunteer Work & Community Engagement

Community service is integral to my professional ethos. As a former member of the Michigan Cyber Civilian Corps (MiC3), I worked alongside state experts to strengthen cybersecurity defenses and respond to incidents across public and private sectors.

    Personal Attributes

I am known for my meticulous attention to detail, strategic problem-solving skills, and a deep commitment to continuous learning.
